Women Concealed Carry Recommendations

This post is dedicated to our loyal Facebook fan, Courtney. Thanks Courtney!

Women are the largest growing demographic in the concealed carry world. Women face different concerns when selecting the right carry gun, gear, and carry position due to trending styles, tighter clothes, and shearer fabrics. Although this can be an obstacle at times, there are ways to take advantage of the female wardrobe to make concealed carry much more comfortable.

Many women select off body carry methods such as purse carry. What is the most common thing stolen in personal robberies? Purses. Having an assailant snatch your purse with your loaded firearm in it is a recipe for a disaster. Stay away from off body carry and keep your firearm secured to your person.

Women can take advantage of loose flowing clothing such as vests, flowing cover garments, and sweaters to easily conceal a handgun worn on the belt (either inside or outside the waistband). This will allow the armed woman to still wear form fitting pants and shirts and allow the loose garment to become a fashion accessory and provide ample concealment. It is important to learn to dress around the gun and the female wardrobe permits creative options.

Thigh holsters can be useful for times where dresses or skirts are worn. There are a few manufacturers that make bra holsters such as Flashbang Holsters and Naturally Concealed. It is essential to have trigger finger and muzzle direction discipline when drawing from these (or any) holsters. Practice often with an unloaded firearm to gain proficiency.

Other designs such as Smart Carry and Remora do not affix directly to clothing with any clips or straps. They can be alternative options for deeper concealment.

With these options in mind we strongly suggest purchasing a firearm that you shoot well and are proficient with. Select a carry position that allows a full grip on the firearm and quick firearm presentation from concealment. For further information visit our womens page and watch this video:
